New Construction:  1500 sf house and 800 sf studio

This project uses local resources, as allowable, and is as hand built as time and budget allow.  Intended as a passive-solar low-energy project, it has been dug into a south facing treed lot overlooking the Homer Spit, Kachemak Bay, and the mountains and glaciers beyond.  The design strategy is based on tying solid energy concepts to aesthetic choices and working with the harsh climate and existing site features to achieve project goals.  Details and material selection are driven by a balance of environmental factors, local economy and a desire to have the finished product have a hand built, site-worn and personal feel.
